education

In partnership with private schools in Kathmandu, every boy and girl in Kailash, from primary school to high school, receives a comprehensive traditional education. Daily schooling also allows our boys and girls to form friendships and bonds with their peers outside of Kailash Home. A growing number of Kailash alumni are pursuing higher education through university programs and trade schools both in the region and around the world.

At KHF we believe that ALL children
they deserve to have access to a safe and quality education

Providing quality education has been the essential pillar of KHF’s work since its inception more than 20 years ago. According to the Annual Report published by the United Nations in 2019, 420 million of the 1.4 billion school-age children in developing countries will not have learned basic skills and 825 million will not have acquired basic secondary skills by 2030. And these statistics were released before a global pandemic caused more than 2 years of academic disruption worldwide. These realities reaffirm the importance of our mission in education. Kailash Home, in addition to providing a safe home, also ensures that all 100 boys and girls who live there are enrolled in primary and secondary school until they graduate and leave Kailash. Many of them open to continue studying at the professional school or university.

Primary – Grades 1 to 8

From the time they arrive in Kailash at the age of 5 or 6, the boys and girls start primary school in Kathmandu. Working with various local schools, KHF and our Nepali partners enroll each child in the right course, where they can learn and be surrounded by peers their age. From language and mathematics courses to English classes, all children receive a comprehensive primary education.

Secondary – Grades 9 to 12

After completing Grade 9, students transfer to one of our partner secondary schools where they continue their education in traditional subjects and English studies. They also have the opportunity to participate in additional extracurricular activities with their schoolmates.

University and More

Although our students leave Kailash Home at the end of 12th grade, many go on to higher education. Through specific grants for higher education and the continued generosity of many sponsors, KHF continues to financially support students through college or vocational training.

Alumni Network

Although they leave Kailash Home after their 12th grade exams, our graduates remain an integral part of the Kailash family. Whether they’re going on to university, doing vocational training or going straight into the workforce, our alumni are leading the way for future generations of Kailash Home boys and girls.

With 20 years of helping students, at Kailash Home and the KH Foundation we constantly strive to connect and encourage our alumni from around the world. These talented young people are a living testament to the foundation’s work and mission, as well as an inspiration to the current and future generations of Kailash Home. Our alumni maintain a strong link with Kailash through campus visits, connections in Kathmandu and beyond, and through an active network of alumni eager to stay connected with Kailash Home.
