Cultural heritage

Through extracurricular activities emphasizing traditional arts and our annual home visit program, FKH strives to connect each and every child to their village, community and culture. We strongly believe that the children of Kailash Home should be proud of their culture and heritage and that in turn they will also be the best ambassadors of their communities in the future.

Maintain tradition through cultural heritage
and traditional arts and crafts

At FKH we believe in the power of children to change the future. We also know that they are better equipped to do this when they value their past and the traditions of their peoples. At Kailash Home, all children are trained in music and dance, both traditional and more contemporary. They learn the language and history of Nepal and have the opportunity, whenever possible, to return to their home villages and families during the school holidays. While we know that our children are connected to the world through technology and their relationships with sponsors and friends, we also know that they are the hope for channeling the improvements needed to move their communities and their families forward.

Home visit program during the holidays

Our children come from all regions of Nepal (mainly those located in the Himalayan range) from refugee camps to the most rural mountain villages. At FKH we believe that maintaining cultural and geographic ties to their roots allows them to become better leaders and ambassadors for their communities in the future. Every year during the school holidays, some of our children return home accompanied by a Kailash staff member. These visits not only provide an opportunity to reconnect with family and friends, but also allow them to travel and learn about their country.

With 20 years of helping students, at Kailash Home and the KH Foundation we constantly strive to connect and encourage our alumni from around the world. These talented young people are a living testament to the foundation’s work and mission, as well as an inspiration to the current and future generations of Kailash Home. Our alumni maintain a strong link with Kailash through campus visits, connections in Kathmandu and beyond, and through an active network of alumni eager to stay connected with Kailash Home.
