Excellent news from Nepal! Our senior students (all those 18+) as well as the staff at Kailash Home received their COVID vaccinations last month. Each of the staff and students received a single dose of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine which means in just two weeks time they will be considered fully inoculated without the need for a secondary dose at this time. The staff at Kailash reported that all the children did well following their vaccinations, and that no one suffered any adverse side effects.
Excel·lents notícies des del Nepal! Els nostres estudiants sèniors (tots aquells majors de 18 anys) i el personal del Kailash Home han rebut recentment la seva vacuna contra la COVID. Tots han rebut una dosi única de la vacuna Johnson & Johnson, cosa que significa que en només dues setmanes es consideraran totalment inoculats sense la necessitat d’una segona dosi. Després de rebre la vacuna, tan el personal de Kailash com tots els nens que l’han rebut s’han trobat bé i ningú ha patit efectes secundaris adversos.
While many developed nations around the world are nearing or surpassing the 50% mark for fully vaccinating all residents — as of this week Andorra was at 52%, Spain at 70%, and the United States at 53% of its population — Nepal has only reached just over 16% of the population completely vaccinated. The fact that some of our students are among such a small percentage is a testament to the care and efforts of our Kailash staff, our international partners, and our sponsors and donors, including you!
Tot i que molts països s’acosten o superen el 50% de la seva població vacunada (les dades més recents indiquen que a Andorra és el 44%, a Espanya el 56% i als Estats Units el 49%), al Nepal només s’ha arribat a poc més del 5% de la població completament vacunada. El fet que alguns dels nostres estudiants es trobin entre un percentatge tan reduït és un testimoni de la cura i l’esforç del nostre equip al Nepal, dels nostres socis internacionals i dels nostres patrocinadors i donants, inclosos vosaltres!
We are still awaiting the opportunity for our younger students to receive their vaccinations, but for now, this is a big step forward and toward normalcy for everyone at Kailash.
