Girl 1

Founded in 2020, the Girl1 initiative is Kailash Home’s newest program. Through creative events and workshops, and education and open dialogue, Girl1 aims to empower the boys and girls of the Kailash Home, with the goal of creating prosperous lives, based on safety and equality, not only for children, but also for their families and communities. As Nepal and the rest of the world fight for gender equality, FKH and Kailash Man are convinced that empowering girls can change the world’s trajectory.

About Girl 1's initiative

While women and girls make up more than half of the world’s population, their circumstances in many places around the world are still unequal to those of their male counterparts. In Nepal, women and girls are even less likely to be recipients of both educational and government resources, and long-standing taboos and traditions often leave them disadvantaged or even clearly at risk. As Nepal and the rest of the world strive for gender equality, the Kailash Home Foundation, in partnership with HCF and HYF work to contribute our bit through a strong educational and community initiative to the Kailash Home. Girl1 activities cover a wide variety of relevant topics with Nepali and global female leaders and role models collaborating with us by sharing their experiences.

“When you empower a girl, you transform
a community.”
